CHARACTER INFORMATION
Name: Izumi
Age: REALLY OLD
Subject taught: Health Education
Canon: Category: Freaks! CANON
Canon point: End of volume 2 of the manga
Personality:
Mildly stoic even in the face of danger, Izumi prefers to keep his emotions behind an infallible mask that he rarely drops. Part of it is to keep his motivations hidden, but most of it is simply to be humble and polite (or as some would put it, a pest), something that is quite apparent in his manner and appearance. He speaks formally, sometimes using outdated expressions that offer vague hints of his true age despite his appearance. Occasional he can be quite vulgar and perverse, but that is another rarity.
He cares for those around him beyond simply being polite, doing what he can to assist them with whatever they're doing. He takes his position as Asagi's remitter seriously, defaulting to Asagi's judgments and going out of his way to ensure Asagi's health, such as taking away his cigarettes when he's ill.
Izumi can be a tad dense at times, not understanding, or at least pretending not to understand, the moods and states of those around him. He can tell a story that he finds quite interesting and not notice that he's boring his audience until they've all fallen asleep. He also likes to pester Asagi from time to time with keen observations and playful jabs.

Waking. Now that was unusual, Izumi thought to himself. Waking for one who never really slept was always unusual, and it only ever indicated something truly amiss. The sudden shudder and screeching sound that had awoken him did nothing except prompt his conscious mind to resume functioning. Izumi didn't open his eyes until he was certain the area around him was truly empty of threats.
There was no odor of freak in the air, no sensations surging through his body to indicate something was wrong. He opened his good eye and looked up at the ceiling for several moments, taking stock of himself: One humanoid body, one suit with tie, one pair of newly shined shoes, and a distinct stiffness in his neck from how he had been sitting. He sighed a bit and rolled his head about a few times to loosen the muscles. An endless expanse of time using perfect posture made sitting in an awkward position an unbearable experience.
Izumi stood up to look around and paused. He was on a train. He removed his jacket and sniffed gently at the collar. No hint of freak or human. Somehow he had been transported without being touched directly, but even that would have left a recognizable odor. He slid his jacket back on and adjusted it before heading for the door. Wherever the train had stopped at would have to be his destination for now while he sorted things out.
With a smile he wondered what Asagi would do without him while he figured out how to make the return trip, stepping onto the platform with a sigh. At least, for the moment, he was still in one piece. Now all he needed was to find someone knowledgeable to help him out...
